Getting Started

Can You Control the Shaking?

Shaking is completely normal, especially when you’re just starting out, stepping onto the board, or transitioning between different positions. Your body is constantly making small adjustments to maintain balance.

Focus on stabilizing your core and legs while allowing your body to make small, natural corrections. Stay relaxed but engaged. The more you focus on smooth, controlled movement rather than trying to hold perfectly still, the easier balancing becomes.

The basic positions for later exercises are standing on both feet or on one foot, with your weight always cantered over the foam base beneath the board.

How to Get on the Board Safely

Option 1: From the centre, with hand support (recommended for beginners)

  1. Hold a stable support, such as a wall, sturdy chair, or training partner.
  2. Carefully place one foot to the centre of the board.
  3. Bring your second foot onto the board.
  4. Gradually adjust your stance until you feel balanced and comfortable.

Option 2: From the side, with or without hand support

  1. Place one foot over the edge on the side of the board and tilt it until it touches the floor.
  2. Step onto the board with your second foot.
  3. Gradually shift your weight until the board returns towards the centre and you find your balance.

How to Step Off Safely?

Option 1: From the centre, with hand support. Follow the reverse sequence of getting onto the board.

Option 2: To the side. Gradually tilt the board until one edge touches the floor, then carefully step or slide off.

Option 3: Jump down with both feet at the same time. Only do this when the board is stable and you feel confident doing so safely.

Use hand support whenever needed. Only try getting on and off without hand support when you feel confident doing so.
